How to Control Occhio Lighting with Apple Home
Occhio Air is Occhio's wireless lighting control solution based on Casambi technology. With Atios SmartCore and a DALI Casambi gateway, you can integrate your Occhio Air lighting system into Apple Home for convenient control from your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.
How it works
Atios SmartCore acts as the DALI Master (Application Controller) in your lighting setup. By connecting an Occhio Air - DALI Gateway to the DALI bus, you can bridge your Occhio Air's Casambi wireless mesh network to Apple Home through Matter protocol.
- Atios SmartCore serves as your DALI Master
- Occhio DALI Air Gateway connects to the DALI bus and the Casambi mesh network
- Occhio Air lights communicate wirelessly via the Casambi mesh network
- SmartCore bridges to Apple Home using Matter protocol
This setup works for all Casambi lighting system as well as standard DALI lights.
DALI lights are connected directly to Atios SmartCore's DALI port, so there is no need for the Casambi gateway. You can combine both Casambi and hardwired DALI lights, up to 64 devices in total.
What you can control
Once connected, you'll have control over your Occhio Air lighting through Apple Home:
- Switch lights on and off
- Dim to any brightness level
- Color control for tunable white
- Height adjustment for motorized Occhio fixtures (coming soon with LumaPort)
- Create scenes and automations
- Use Siri voice commands
- Control remotely when away from home
Note: Up/down fading functionality is not available when using the Occhio DALI Air Gateway with this configuration.
Everything in one app
One big advantage is that your Occhio lights become part of your complete smart home ecosystem. You don't need different apps to manage your home. Instead, you're able to control lights, blinds, heating, and door locks all from one place.
Create scenes and automations that adjust your Occhio lights automatically based on time of day, occupancy sensors or other triggers in your home. Set your lights to turn on when you arrive home, or have them adjust throughout the day to match your circadian rhythm.
With remote control, you can manage your home from anywhere in the world. Check if you left lights on, adjust settings while you're away, or create the illusion of occupancy when you're on vacation.
